pounds4.7m windfall for b&nes

Bath and North East Somerset Council is to get a windfall of morethan pounds4.7 million - but says its financial headaches remain.

HM Revenues and Customs has told the authority it has now settleda claim for VAT on museum charges between 1990 and 1996.

The total coming to the council is pounds4.766 million, boostingthe Guildhall reserves to pounds13.8 million.
